ABOUT NCWEA

Our Vision

We envision a community that is inclusive, diverse and resilient; values people of all backgrounds and abilities; and provides a safe place to live, work and play.

Our Mission

NCW Equity Alliance champions education, advocacy and reconciliation through collaborative efforts. The NCW Equity Alliance supports diversity and inclusion initiatives across all layers of government, businesses, and nonprofit organizations in Chelan and Douglas counties.

What is DEIAB?

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Accessibility & Belonging  (DEIAB) is a guiding framework that supports the recognition and valuing of individual differences, ensures fair access and outcomes for all, and fosters environments where every voice is heard and respected.

DIVERSITY speaks to the variety of dimensions that individuals bring to a community. This includes (but is not limited to) race, gender, age, culture, ability, sexuality, gender identity, socioeconomic status, religion, language, educational background, military status, background and thought.

EQUITY means providing the resources and opportunities people need to thrive, taking into account systemic and historical barriers rather than simply treating everyone the same.

INCLUSION is about intentionally cultivating a sense of belonging, enabling each person to meaningfully contribute, be valued, and engage fully.

ACCESSIBILITY is about removing physical, digital, systemic, and attitudinal barriers so everyone can engage meaningfully and fully.

BELONGING is about creating spaces where people feel seen, valued, and connected, where everyone knows they have a rightful place in the community.

Together, DEIAB is central to building trustworthy, effective systems and practices in educational assessment that serve every student, educator, and stakeholder equitably.
