Multicultural Fest 2026 Recap

January 30, 2026

Thanks to everyone who joined us for the MLK Jr. Multicultural Fest and the Uplift Awards! We loved celebrating our community’s diversity and honoring so many incredible people.

Our community came together for a meaningful and joy-filled day at this year’s MLK Jr. Multicultural Fest, inspired by the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. and centered on celebrating the many cultures that make our region what it is today.

Guests spent the day exploring cultural and heritage booths featuring art, crafts, traditional clothing, and storytelling. One of the highlights was the kids passport activity, where children visited each booth, learned something new, and collected stamps along the way. It was a simple, hands-on way to spark curiosity and create connection across cultures.

We were also honored to host the Uplift Awards as part of the celebration, recognizing individuals whose work and leadership continue to strengthen and support our community. It was a powerful reminder that impact shows up in many forms, and that local leadership matters.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, shared their traditions, volunteered their time, and helped make the event welcoming and memorable.

Events like this reflect what’s possible when people gather with the shared goal of learning from one another and celebrating what makes each culture unique.

Special thanks to our event sponsors, Chelan County PUD and LifeCenter Northwest, for helping make the day possible.

For years, the Equity and Pride banners displayed in Wenatchee and East Wenatchee each June have been a symbol of belonging — a reminder that our community values inclusion, dignity, and respect for everyone. Recently, the East Wenatchee City Council changed its banner policy in a way that prevents these banners from being displayed. There is also concern that Wenatchee may consider similar changes. We want our community to know: we see you, and you matter. Symbols of belonging are important, and we remain committed to ensuring everyone in our valley feels valued and supported. We are actively working on solutions and exploring next steps. We will share ways you can stay engaged and support inclusive spaces in our community soon. Together, we will continue working toward a North Central Washington where everyone belongs.
